Anxiety

What is Anxiety?

Anxiety is a natural and essential part of life. It’s our body’s way of responding to stress or perceived danger—helping us stay alert, focused, and prepared. Feeling anxious before a big presentation, during major life changes, or in uncertain situations is completely normal.

However, anxiety becomes problematic when it’s persistent, overwhelming, or out of proportion to the situation. Abnormal anxiety can interfere with daily life, relationships, and overall well-being. It may show up as constant worry, physical tension, avoidance behaviors, panic attacks, or intrusive thoughts that are difficult to control.

The key difference lies in intensity, duration, and impact. Normal anxiety is temporary and manageable. Abnormal anxiety tends to linger, intensify over time, and may signal an anxiety disorder—something that is treatable with the right support.

If anxiety is getting in the way of your life, you're not alone—and there is help available.
