The Misophonia Paper

I am so excited to announce that we have finally published our paper on misophonia (link to it below). The paper went through a couple rounds of critical scrutiny and was accepted for publication by the Journal for Obsessive Compulsive and Related Disorders. In the paper we review our psychological model of misophonia which is based on a critical review of the literature on misophonia. We offer a compelling case for why and how misophonia is largely the result of psychological processes. In the second part of the paper we outline our approach to treating misophonia which is based on the psychological model, a therapy we termed experiential acceptance and stimulus engagement (EASE). Lastly, we conclude with a case example of how the therapy can be administered.
